Who are the worst sufferers of traffic jams?
Why does traffic jam occur? Or, what is the main cause of traffic jams?
How do you feel at the time of traffic jams?
What are the disadvantages of traffic jams?
How can we solve this problem?
Answer: Due to some
causes if a number of vehicles remain still and cannot move, then it is called
traffic jam. It is a common affair in big cities and towns in our country. It
usually occurs in the busy areas of a city or town. It is a major problem in
that city. people face every day. There are many causes of traffic jams.
Population explosion is one of them. Compared to the number of people we have
no adequate facilities. Our roads and streets remain almost undeveloped whereas
vehicles increase rapidly. These vehicles do not get sufficient space to ply
through the roads. Consequently, a traffic jam occurs. Besides. our traffic
control system is not sufficiently developed. People do not want to abide by
traffic rules. Various kinds of vehicles such as buses, trucks, microbuses. CNG
three-wheelers, rickshaws, pushcart, etc. run as their will. One vehicle tries
to overtake others. Then they are stopped on the road. Sometimes the jam is so
severe that the vehicles remain still at a place for hours together. It causes
untold sufferings to the people who move on the vehicles as well as on foot. It
kills our valuable time and hampers, our work. This problem can be solved by
adopting some effective measures. Traffic rules should be imposed strictly.
Well planned spacious roads should be constructed. Public awareness is also
needed in this respect.
My visit to a place of historical
interest
Man
is no satisfied with what he as seen and known. So as a student, I have a keen
interest to know the historical places of my country. During the last autumn
vacation, I got an opportunity to visit Bagerhat, a great historical places.
The important spots of Bagerhat are 'The Mazar of Khan Jahan Ali', 'The Dighi
of Khan Jahan Ali', 'The Shatagambuj Mosque' and 'The Ghora Dighi'. The Mazar
of Khan Jahan Ali is a fine one storeyed building where he was buried. On the
night of full moon of the month Chaitra, a big fair is held beside the Mazar.
The Dighi of Khan Jahan Ali is in front of the Mazar. It is a big tank. There
are some crocodiles in this big tank. I also visited the Shatgambuj Mosque. The
Mosque is beautifully decorated. The Ghora Dighi is also big. It is near the
Shatgambuj Mosque. Bagerhat is really a place of historical interest. I left
Bagerhat but the memory still haunts my mind.
Pahela Baishak
Pahela Baishak is the first day of Bangla year. We
celebrate the day with traditional festivities across the country. Many
socio-cultural organizations draw up many programs to celebrate the day. The
day is celebrated with more pleasure and enjoyment in our deeply. Many cultural
organizations start their programs from Ramna Batamul. Chhayanat and other
organizations celebrate the day by singing songs and arranging drama, dancing
etc. Bangla Academy, Shishu Academy, Shilpakala Academy, bulbul Lalita-Kala
academy. Fine arts Institute of Dhaka University, National Museum, and other
institutions arrange many BTV displays special programs across the day. Most of
the city dwellers wear a special dress to celebrate the day. In some places
especially the rural bazar area, many traders, and shopkeepers open Halkhata
and offer sweet to their customers. We think the day as his source of enjoyment
and the starting day of the year with peace and happiness.
Satellite TV Channels
Satellite TV channels are those channels that telecast
television programs to the different parts of the world via satellite.
Satellite telecasting has added new dimensions to television. Nowadays a huge
number of satellite channels telecast wide range of programs of varied
interest. The programs of all the channels are not beneficial. Some channels
like Discovery, National Geographic and CNN. BBC telecast highly informative
programs and can enrich our mind with sage and sagacity. On the
other hand, some channels like TV-6, MTV, HBO, AXN, etc. cause cultural decay
and moral degradation because they are full of nudism and vulgarism. Our national
culture can be fostered and enriched by avoiding those channels and programs
and having to keep the good and giving up the bad. Our own culture programs and
elements should be seen and enjoyed frequently. It is true that the programs of
some satellite TV are destructive. Those programs which are harmful should be
avoided. That’s to say, constructive programs of satellite TV channels should
be enjoyed. We also have to find out how to derive the best benefit from
satellite TV channels keeping its evil up to the minimum limit. Otherwise,
moral degradation will take place and social stability will be destroyed.
Deforestation
Deforestation means cutting
down trees and burning them at random. But trees are part and parcel of our
environment .They keep the balance of the environment and protect us from
various kinds of natural calamities. However, people cut down trees for various
reasons. The most common causes of deforestation are cutting down trees and
burning them. Though trees are cut and burnt for the sake of agriculture and
habitat, it has a negative effect on the environment. It causes serious damage
to the soil as trees give protection to the soil as well. Otherwise the soil
gets sediment in the riverbed and causes frequent floods. It also causes global
warming which may bring about a serious cause of sufferings for the human
beings in the near future. So, we should plant more trees for a healthier,
happier and better life.

(a) What
is deforestation?
(b) What are
the causes of deforestation?
(c) What are
the effects of deforestation on men and animals?
(d) What are
the effects of deforestation on climate?
(e) What
measures should be taken to stop deforestation?
Deforestation
Deforestation means cutting down trees in large
scale. Today it has become a global problem. This problem is increasing day by
day. There are many causes of deforestation. Population explosion is the
main cause of deforestation. People use wood in different purposes. They
make their house in forestland cutting down trees. As a result, trees are being
cutting down rapidly. There are many bad effects
of deforestation on men and
animals. Deforestation causes global warming. It hampers ecological balance. It brings about
various natural disasters. Deforestation also
causes great harm to the animals. Most of the animals have lost their living
place due to deforestation. It has many bad effects on climate. Today our
climate has changed drastically. The sea level is
rising at an alarming rate. Effective measures should be taken by the
government to stop deforestation. People must be aware about the bad
effects of cutting trees.
Climate Change
Climate
change is the
most pressing issue at the moment over the world. The cause of climate change
can be divided into two categories those are due to natural causes and those
are created by men. Global
warming is the
main natural reason and using harmful chemicals in everyday life the main
reason created by man. The climate is changing rapidly that result in the rise
of the earth’s average temperature. The global climate change and its
consequences are leaving a bad impact on the developing countries to face natural
calamities and poverty.
Climate change impacts include temperature rise, greenhouse and carbon dioxide
gas emissions, erratic rainfall, salinity intrusion, rise of floods, cyclones,
storm surges and draught, ice sheets melting which will seriously affect the
agriculture and livelihood, especially at the poor. Bangladesh, for its geographical locations, is likely to be the most affected.
The developed nations, which are more responsible for such climate changes,
should take responsibilities to protect the victimized countries. The Maldives
is also one of the worst victims of climate change. A one meter sea-level rise
will submerge about one-third of the total area of Bangladesh, which will
uproot 25-30 million people of Bangladesh. These people will become refuges of
climate change. To reduce the bad impact of climate change people should be
aware. Tree plantation can reduce global warming which is the main natural
reason of climate
change. Stop using
harmful chemicals can reduce environmental pollution which is the main man made
reason of climate change. Students should be careful to protect the environment
and raise awareness. Thus students can play a vital role to reduce bad impact
of climate change.
